About Cal State Northridge
Cal State Northridge, also known as CSUN or C-Sun was founded in 1958 and it was first called San Fernando Valley State College. The current name was settled in 1972, being today the name of the 3rd largest university of the California Sate System and the 4th largest university in California.
CSUN is offering various degrees, including 42 master’s and 61 bachelor’s, and it has an enrollment of more than 150 000 students.
The C-Sun campus hosts every year the International Conference on Technology and Persons with Disabilities, and it is also home to a summer theatre program, known as TeenAge Drama Workshop (TADW), consisting in a 6-week intensive training in the field of fine arts.
The university consists in 9 colleges, including Mike Curb College of Arts, Media & Communication, College of Business & Economics, College of Engineering & Computer Science, College of Health & Human Development and College of Science & Mathematics.
Eight faculty members have been awarded with the prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships title for creative activity and research.
It has been highly ranked by the National Science Foundation and U.S. News and World Report.
The campus contains the Northridge Botanic Garden, a high point of interest regarding Northridge tourism, as well as the CSUN sculpture, designed by John Banks, in 1976, while he was still studying at Cal State Northridge.
The Matadors are representing Cal State Northridge in many collegiate athletic games, covering sports areas such as baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, tennis and volleyball.
